Learning for Life
Started in 2008 under Red Stripe’s former parent company Diageo, Learning For Life is a skills training programme which targets Jamaicans aged 18 – 35 years who are unable to matriculate into tertiary level institutions. The HEART Trust/NTA is the primary training partner for the programmes delivering certification in disciplines mainly related to job functions at Red Stripe.
Against the background of a Jamaican economy challenged by large fiscal deficits, a commonly held view is that one way to improve the economy is through training and certification of the workforce. A trained and certified workforce is likely to lead to greater productivity, business competitiveness, and ultimately economic growth and development.
Since inception, the Learning for Life programmes have graduated some 11,750 Jamaicans and will train some 2500 students in 2017.
